Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME, SSM NO.] ([address]) ("we", "us") for the RiceNest 米窝 apps and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them and to our Privacy policy.
1. Who can use it
You must be at least [18] years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create a family or subscribe. Younger people may use the Service only as members of a family set up by their parent or guardian, who accepts these terms for them and is responsible for their use.
2. Your account and your family
- You sign in with a code sent to your email. Keep access to that email safe; you are responsible for what happens in your account.
- A family has an owner, who controls who joins, their roles and which features are on. When you invite someone, you confirm you have the right to share the family's information with them. When you add a child, you confirm you are their parent or guardian or have their parent's permission.
- If you leave a family or delete your account, items you shared with the whole family stay with the family (see the Privacy policy, section 10).
3. Your content
You keep all rights in what you and your family put into the Service ("Content"). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy and display your Content only to run and improve the Service for you, and to back it up. The licence ends when the Content is deleted, except for backups kept for a limited time.
You are responsible for your Content. Don't upload anything unlawful, anything you don't have the right to share, or anything that infringes others' rights.
4. Acceptable use
Don't:
- use the Service to track, monitor or stalk anyone without their knowledge and consent. Location sharing must always be known to the person sharing; parents may manage a child's sharing only as the law allows;
- break the law, harass anyone, or share content that sexualises or endangers children;
- try to get around the permissions, reverse engineer the Service, overload it, scrape it, or access other families' data;
- resell the Service or use it to build a competing product.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, after warning you where it is reasonable to.
5. Location, SOS and reminders: important limits
Location, arrival alerts, SOS and reminders depend on your device, its settings, battery and network. They can be late, inaccurate or not arrive. The Service is not an emergency service. In an emergency call [999 (Malaysia) / your local emergency number]. Don't rely on the Service for anyone's safety.
6. Money features
Money features are for keeping your own records. They are not financial, tax or investment advice, they don't connect to your bank, and we don't hold or move money. Check figures against your bank before acting on them.
7. Documents
Store copies of documents for convenience. Keep the originals and your own backups; we are not responsible for a document's legal validity.
8. Connected AI assistants
You may connect third-party assistants (for example Claude or ChatGPT). They act on your instructions with the permissions you give and are governed by their providers' terms. You can disconnect them at any time. We are not responsible for what a third-party assistant does with the access you give it, beyond enforcing the permissions you chose.
9. Subscriptions
- Free and paid features. The family organiser (calendar, lists, notes, meals, chores, goals, money, documents and location) is free. Family Plus is an optional paid subscription that adds bank statement import, money reports and CSV export, holding money and carrying overspending in envelope budgets, connecting AI assistants, more document storage (the free plan includes 500 MB per family), more than 6 people in a family and more than 1 subscribed calendar kept in sync. What is included is shown in the app before you buy and may change as described in section 10.
- One subscription per family. Family Plus belongs to the family it was bought for, not to the person who paid: everyone in that family has it, on every device and on the web, for as long as the subscription is active. Any adult member (owner, admin or adult role) can buy it. The person who bought it remains the store customer and is the only one who can cancel or change it. If they leave the family, the family keeps Family Plus until the subscription ends or is cancelled.
- Price. [Price] per month or [price] per year, in your local currency as shown by the App Store or Google Play before you confirm, including any taxes they apply (SST in Malaysia). Prices may differ between countries.
- Free trial. [Unless we tell you otherwise in the app,] each new family has Family Plus free for 14 days from the day the family is created. This in-app trial needs no payment details, nothing is charged, and it does not turn into a subscription: when it ends the family simply continues on the free plan. There is one trial per account; families created later by the same person, or after deleting an account, don't get another. [If the store offers an introductory offer, its terms are shown before you confirm, and unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends the paid subscription starts and you are charged.]
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (a month or a year) at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your App Store or Google Play account is charged within 24 hours before renewal. If a payment fails, the store may keep trying for a grace period, during which the family keeps Family Plus.
- Cancelling. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings (the app links there, under More › Family Plus › Manage subscription). The family keeps Family Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a store subscription; cancel it in Google Play or the App Store. Deleting a family doesn't cancel it either.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google under their terms; refund requests go to them. This doesn't affect any refund rights you have under consumer law.
- Price changes. We tell you in advance; the store asks for your consent where the law or its rules require.
- When Family Plus ends, nothing is deleted and everything your family made stays readable: records imported from statements, budgets, documents and files (which you can still open and download), everyone already in the family, and calendars already subscribed (the oldest one keeps updating; the others stop updating but their events stay). What stops is adding more of what Family Plus covers: importing statements, the reports and CSV export, holding more money or carrying overspending (existing holds can be lowered or released), connecting new AI assistants (assistants already connected can still read but not change anything), uploading beyond 500 MB, and adding people beyond 6. You can download all your data at any time (More › Account › Download my data).
10. Changes to the Service and these terms
We improve the Service and may change or remove features. If a change materially reduces what you paid for, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel. We will tell you in the app at least [30] days before changes to these terms take effect; if you keep using the Service, the new terms apply.
11. Ending
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (More › Account › Delete account). We may end the Service with [60] days' notice, during which you can download your data. We may close an account immediately for serious or repeated breaches of these terms or if the law requires.
12. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act 1999 or your local law. Otherwise, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or [RM 100 / local equivalent], and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Disputes go to the courts of [Kuala Lumpur], but if you are a consumer living in another country you may also bring a claim in your local courts and keep the protection of its mandatory laws. Malaysian consumers may also go to the Tribunal for Consumer Claims.
14. Apple-specific terms
If you got the app from the App Store: these terms are between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME, SSM NO.], not Apple; Apple has no duty to provide support or maintenance; Apple is not responsible for claims about the app (including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property); Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries who may enforce these terms; and you confirm you are not in a country under a US embargo or on a US prohibited-party list. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies where these terms are silent.
